As a coach, you might feel as if you are always being tough on your baseball players. After all, you probably know that pushing them helps them to become their best. However, you probably want to show them that you appreciate them as well. These are a few ways that you can do so.

1. Be Understanding

First of all, it is important to be understanding of your players' needs. If a player needs to miss a practice because of an illness, injury, family emergency or upcoming exam, it's important to be understanding. Of course, this doesn't mean that your players should be able to miss practice any time that they want. However, understanding that they have other things going on in their lives can help you show that you trust and appreciate them.

2. Congratulate Them on a Job Well Done

Along with telling your players how they need to improve, it is also important to tell them when they do a good job. If your players are improving their skills with lots of hard practice or if they have just finished playing really well in a game -- whether they won or lost -- it is important to point this out and show them that you appreciate their hard work.

3. Treat Them Every Now and Then

Of course, you don't have to give the members of your baseball team gifts to show them that you appreciate them. However, you can show your appreciation by treating them every now and then. For example, at the end of the season or after a particularly good game, consider taking them out for pizza or ice cream. Giving them small things like baseball trading pins, such as from GH PINS, that have been customized with your team's name and logo can be a good idea as well; not only are they sure to appreciate the token, but it can help them feel like a unified part of the team when they pin it on their hat, backpack or uniform. Plus, passing out trophies or awards at the end of the season can be a good way to show your appreciation as well.

The members of your school baseball team probably put in a lot of work, so you probably want to show them that you appreciate them. Luckily, if you follow these tips, you can help ensure that your players know just how much you value them.
